Danielle was killed by a drunk driver.

Danielle had the bluest eyes - they actually looked unhuman and more angelic - they were royal blue
and light blue - I've never seen eyes as blue as Danielle's. She loved animals and
children. Her passion and education was geared toward helping oppressed children. When Danielle
was a counselor for the Girl Scouts she was so 'taken aback' by some of the moms who would
drop their girls off without a lunch for the summer camp days - Danielle began packing lunches for
the girls - it actually became a Derfler family project - lunches were not just lunches but
decorated brown bags with pictures, stickers, glitter, etc. and personalized. The contents were
just as creative, celery filled with peanut butter topped with raisins, string cheese, fruit salad,
puddings - fun and nutritious. When Danielle died we set up a scholarship with the Girl Scouts and
wanted the money to be used to provide lunches for those girls that were just dropped off without
one. Sad but true to think this happens. Danielle was the greatest story teller of all - she was
animated, captivating, and humorous. She had many friends and would do anything for her friends.
She was just making her mark in this world to 'make a difference.'
